To be able to produce a carbon fiber of high strength, among solutions containing the polymer monomer of which the whole weight ratio is 25-45wt% and that is composed of acrylonitrile 90-99wt% and copolymer monomer 0.01-1.0wt%, a spinning undiluted solution of polyacrylonitrile copolymer that is produced by copolymerizing under the existence of a reaction delay agent is spun through a spinneret and is removed of the solvent to give the objective fiber, thus the fiber is given a drawing and a relaxing treatment.
