Electronic endoscope with image sensor

The image sensor converts an optical image into an analogue image pixel signal. There is an analogue to digital (A/D) converter which uses the analogue signals to provide digital image pixel signals, under the control of a scanning clock. The number of the converted digital pixel signals in an horizontal scanning line depends on the scanning frequency. A pixel number converter, for the digital image pixel, operates in such a manner that the digital image pixel signals are transmitted at an output sampling frequency differing from the scanning one. Preferably a digital chrominance matrix converter processes the digital pixel signals into luminance signals and two types of chrominance signals.
