Vehicle headlamp

The headlamp has a reflector (10), a bulb (12) and a lens (18) on a carrier (30). The lens carrier has a section tapered in the light output direction and surrounding the lens for at least part of its periphery, this section at least being made of transparent material, such as glass. The lens is located at the furthest outward part of the carrier, and the tapered section has optical elements in the form of rounded or wedge-shaped bumps on the surface. The light beam coming through the lens has an upper light/dark boundary, the light being deflected upwards by these bumps. At least the surface with these bumps has a coating. The lens is held on the carrier by catches.
