Charcoal, the outer surface of which is covered by a layer of a film-forming material, comprising ,a compound selected from; cellulose , a cellulose derivative, starch, starch derivative and mixture thereof,in combination with a compound selected from; sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride and their mixtures. The above film reduces deposition of dust and assists in the conversion of CO to CO 2 during combustion.
