An encased piping system in which an inner pipe (27) of specified durability characteristics is installed in and supported by a single-piece outer casing (25, 26) of greater strength or stiffness or, where tributary connections are provided in said inner pipe, by an outer casing made in two halves (25, 26) and assembled over said inner pipe (27) and its tributary connections; shrouds being provided around said outer casing to enclose discrete zones and contain leakage and drainage and inspection points being provided in said outer casing and said shrouds; attachment flanges (17, 18, 28, 29) welded to the ends of said outer casing (25, 26) prior to the installation of said inner pipe (27) and sealing flanges (19, 20) being welded to the ends of said inner pipe following its installation in said outer casing (25, 26). |
