The socket has a cup-shaped metal housing (1) containing a plastics bearing shell (4) for a ball (2) on a rod (3) end. A bellows (8) seals the rod to the socket. The bearing shell has a circumferential flange (5), locating in a groove at the open end of the socket, and a skirt (7) to which one end of the bellows is fixed by a snap ring (9).The bearing shell, its flange and skirt are made as one component. The skirt pref. forms with the flange an annular recess in which one end of the bellows fits and where it is simultaneously supported by the shaped edge of the metal housing.
