Free-standing appliance for uniformly grilling various food items

The appliance comprises a central vertically arranged tubular electric heating element enclosed in a cover through which heat may be radiated and a number of food holders arranged circumferentially which are rotated by an electric motor in order to grill the food items evenly. The appliance has a cylindrical base (2) on which is mounted a grill (3) consisting of a temperature controlled, spirally wound tubular electric heating element (17) within a mesh-like holder (18) attached (20) to the base. An electric motor (22) and belt (21) drives the mutually geared food supports (13,14,15) in bearings (29,30,31). The cover (33), through which the food supports pass, has a drainage channel (32) around the heater cover for collection of fat,oil and juices from the foods.
