Electric motor drive for small parts machine

The machine has a motor support (2) made from two halves which form part of a cylinder whose diameter can be adjusted by four screws (7) which hold the housing (4) of the motor under tension. The motor support is mounted on an arm (8) fixed to the machine table. The electric motor (3) has a shaft (12) which is connected to a reduction gear mechanism (13,14) which powers a circular saw (16). The saw rotates at a reduced speed to that of the electric motor due to the gearing. A lever (17) is used to control the position of the saw up and down the arm. When the lever is released, the motor and saw assembly retract under the action of a return spring (18).
