Herbicide for use in rice cultivation contains an N-aryl-N-isopropyl heteroaryloxyacetamide of formula (I). Het = thiadiazolyl (optionally substituted by halo, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, phenyl or halophenyl); Ar = phenyl (optionally substituted by halo, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C haloalkyl). Also claimed is a synergistic herbicide containing (I) and one or more conventional rice herbicides (II) in wt. ratio (I):(II) = 1:001-1000.
