Device has a housing (2) for an oscillation detection sensor (1) with a sensor tip (6) extending outwards from the housing in the sensor direction (16), so that its extension can be adjusted. For a series of measurements the range of adjustment of the sensor tip (6) is greater than the largest outer tolerance value of the object being measured. The housing (2) comprises a base section (3) to which a forward housing (4) is fixed with a guide (5) extending into the inside (4a) of the forward housing. The guide (5) is sprung within the base section (3) and the sensor head is held by the guide so that it is sprung against the rear surface of the forward section (4b) of the forward housing (4).
