V-ribbed transmission belt with low slip ratio and long life
摘要
The characteristic features in a ribbed transmission belt (10) with longitudinally-extending compression (24) and tensile (26) regions and a load-bearing element (28) are that: (a) the load-bearing element contains twisted polyester filaments of 4000-8000 denier containing ethylene-2,6-naphthalate; (b) a loading of at least 500N per rib is required to give a belt lengthening of ca. 3%; and (c) the dry shrinkage loading is 100-200N when the belt has an initial loading of 147N and is held at 100 deg C for 30 minutes. Also claimed is production of the belt comprising twisting together a number of the polyester filaments to give a load-bearing band of the required denier, treating the band with an epoxy compound and/or an isocyanate and an RFL solution, stretching the band, treating it at a controlled temperature and then incorporating it into a belt of the required properties.
