Hydraulically operated release mechanism for automotive clutch

A hydraulically-operated release mechanism for an automotive clutch has a receiving cylinder (1) which also supports a hydraulically-activated disengagement bearing (9). A helical spring (10) is located between the receiving cylinder and the disengagement bearing and prevents mechanical play in the position of the disengagement bearing. The helical spring locates in a circular groove (13) in the receiving cylinder pressure housing (4). The first turn of the spring rests against an axially inclined face (15) within the groove. The pitch of the groove lower face is the same as that of the spring.
