A firing arrangement (11) for a firearm (1) is disclosed. The arrangement (11) comprises a source of electrical power (12), means (8) for selectively enabling supply of the electrical power to a switch (16), the first switch (16) being associated with a trigger lever (5) of said firearm (1) to energise an electro-mechanical actuator (18) operatively associated with a means for discharging (19) the firearm (1) in order to discharge the firearm (1). A method of retro-fitting a firearm is also disclosed. The arrangement (11) substantially increases both personal and public safety aspects of firearms.
