The present process for the preparation of polymers of alpha-olefins involves contacting, under effective polymerization conditions, at least one alpha -olefin having from 4 to 30 carbon atoms with a catalyst comprising a transition metal complex and a co-catalyst. The transition metal complex contemplated for use in the process consists of a reduced valency transition metal, selected from groups 4-6 of the Periodic Table of the Elements, with a multidentate monoanionic ligand and with two monoanionic ligands. In particular the reduced transition metal is titanium Ti<+3>. |
