A tool for cutting a sheet of wall covering material, including an elongate flat body (11) forming a handle and having a housing for a movable cutting blade (16). The head of the body has a slot (14) through which one end of the cutting blade (16) is obliquely extendable, and two angled surfaces (13) lying in two planes on either side of the slot (14). Said angled surfaces (13) converge along an edge (15) extending lengthwise relative to the blade plane, the cutting blade (16) is obliquely extendable from the head at one end of the edge (15), and said planes and said edge may define sheet cutting guides. The longitudinal axis of the handle is at an angle of 20-60 DEG , preferably 25-45 DEG , to said edge, and the blade may be extended without releasing a catch and is rigidly connected to a sliding holder (17) held in position by friction between the holder or a resilient portion thereof and a corresponding bar in the tool body, whereby the extended length of the blade may be continuously adjusted. |
