The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a P or As derivative of an at least bi-substituted cyclopentadiene. The invention is characterised in than an at least mono-substituted spiro-[2,4]-hepta-4,6-diene is reacted with an alkali metal phosphine or an alkali metal arsine. The invention also relates to a number of P or As derivatives of cyclopentadiene.
