PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reversible thermal recording medium which can develop a color or erase a color only through the control of thermal energy and which excels in memory and color density by containing an electron receptive compound having a specified phonolic hydroxyl group and a specified organic compound which is well compatible with a specified resin at a high temperature. SOLUTION: A thermal recording medium layer containing a 15 to 70% decoloring thermoplastic resin is composed of an electron donating coloring compound having a lactone ring, an electron receptive compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group, and at least one kind of organic compound chosen from among compounds which are expressed by formulas R1 -CO-N(R2 )R3 , R1 -CO- NH-R4-NH-COR2 , R1 -CO-O-R2 , R1 -NH-CO-NH-R2 , R1 -CO-R2 , (R1 : alkyl group, etc. R2 , R3 : hydrogen, etc.; R4 : alkylene group), and the electron receptive compound is prepared from those containing at least one or more kinds of compound which are expressed by separate formulas. |
