PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve freedom and ultraviolet ray irradiation efficiency at an installing location by a method wherein a photocatalyst is supported on a bulk carrier comprising fiber and a light emitting diode is disposed proximity to the bulk carrier to irradiate the carrier with ultraviolet rays having specified wavelengths. SOLUTION: For example, a glass fiber twisted about triple with a fiber diameter of about 75 tex is immersed into an anatase type titania sol, pulled up and dried to make a bulk carrier 1 and a photocatalyst 2 comprising a TiO2 coating layer is formed. The bulk carrier 1 is loaded into a container 4 made up of a screen together with a light emitting diode 3. The light emitting diode 3 herein used emits visible light with a wavelength of about 400nm together with ultraviolet rays with the wavelength of 360-400nm and is arranged proximity to the bulk carrier 1 to irradiate the bulk carrier 1 with the ultraviolet rays. With such an arrangement, the ultraviolet rays can be efficiently emitted using a cell or the like. This also achieves a compact designing and a higher freedom at an installing location. |
