<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the processing speed for sheet documents by shortening the distance between a preceding sheet and a succeeding sheet in a device for detecting the rear end of the preceding sheet by a detecting means provided on the downstream side in the conveying direction, moving the paper feeding means from the waiting position to the paper feeding position, and feeding the next sheet. SOLUTION: In a device, a sheet S is stacked on a sheet stacking means 5, a paper feeding means 6 is moved to the waiting position in which it is to be separated from the sheet to the paper feeding position in which it is to be brought in contact with the sheet, and an outermost sheet out of the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking means is fed. The rear end of a preceding sheet is detected in the relative early stages by providing a sheet rear end passage detecting means 60 for detecting the rear end of the sheet S fed by the paper feeding mans 6 in the position facing the sheet stacking part. As a result, the paper feeding timing for the succeeding sheet is fastened, and the distance between the preceding and succeeding sheets is shortened.</p> |
