A cpd. or its fuel-soluble salt, of formula(I) is new (where X = H or hydroxyl; Y = -R or -C(O)O-R; R = polyalkyl gp. of average molecular wt. 450-5000). Also claimed is a fuel compsn. comprising of a major amount. of hydrocarbons boiling in gasoline or diesel range and an effective amt. of the cpd. to control engine deposits. Further claimed is a fuel concentrate comprising of an inert stable oleophilic organic solvent of boiling point 150-400[deg]F and 10-70 wt.% of the cpd.
