PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain large-sized ceramics in a high yield by drying wet gel after immersion in a soln. contg. a sublimable org. substance when ceramics is produced by a sol-gel method. SOLUTION: Wet gel is dried after immersion in a soln. contg. a sublimable org. substance such as naphthalene, anthracene or isoquinoline. The wet gel is preferably aged before immersion in the soln. because the outflow of an unreacted component in the gel is suppressed and the component becomes less liable to react with the sublimable org. substance. When this method is applied to the production of glass having index distribution, large-sized glass free from cracks is obtd. in a high yield. In this case, the sublimable org. substance is added to an index distribution imparting soln. |
