PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein, comprising a specific amino acid sequence and useful as a screening reagent for compounds capable of promoting protein chinases or for prevention, treatment, etc., of diseases concerned in a hematopoietic system. SOLUTION: This new protein is a new p26 protein having the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as an amino acid sequence represented by formula I, II or III and is produced by a cell participating in a hematopoietic system or a blood corpuscular cell. The new protein is useful as a screening reagent for compounds having protein chinase promoting or inhibiting activities or inhibiting activities against phosphatases, as a preventing and therapeutic agent for diseases concerned in the hematopoietic system such as aplastic anemia, acute myelogeneic leukemia, T cell leukemia, etc. The protein is obtained by screening a cDNA library derived from a human thymus with a part of a cDNA capable of coding a rat p26 protein as a probe, integrating the resultant gene into a vector and expressing the gene in a host cell. |
