PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an defoamant having defoaming effect superior in durability with a small quantity for a water-soluble system by using a polymer specific in the recurring unit that is a monomer having a basic nitrogen atom or a quartanary ammonium salt or its salt, and also specific in the average molecular weight. SOLUTION: This defoamant consists of a monomer having a basic nitrogen atom such as primary to- tertiary amine or quartenary ammonium salt such as a diaryl dialkyl ammonium halide or its salt, or a polymer with the monomer as recurring units. The polymer whose recurring units are 2-100,000 or the average molecular weight is 300-10,000,000 is used. This defoamant exhibits defoaminig effect superior in durability with a small quantity for a water-soluble processing oily chemical or a detergent, etc., especially for a water-soluble system. The agent can be uniformly present in the system of the water-soluble processing oily chemical, etc., for a long period, independently of the compounding concentration and exhibits the defoaming effect continuously. |
