<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin composition excellent in transparency and moldability by producing a molten mixture of two thermoplastic polyesters in such a manner that the content of ethylenenaphthalenedicarboxylate in the mixture and the melting point and intrinsic viscosity thereof satisfy specified relationships. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a molten mixture of a thermoplastic polyester whose main repeating units comprise ethylene terephthalate with a thermoplastic polyester whose main repeating units comprise ethylenenaphthalenedicarboxylate(EN), wherein the content of the EN component (A, wt.%) is 5-45wt.% and wherein the content A and the melting point (Tm, deg.C) and intrinsic viscosity (IV, dl/g) of the mixture satisfy the relationships of formulas I and II. A single- or twin-screw extruder is usually used for melting and blending. The blending is performed at a temperature of 260-300 deg.C. The obtained composition is used as it is or in the form of, e.g. a sheet, a plate, a tube, a hollow article or a container.</p> |
