This patent application refers to an attachment held directly or remotely for supporting and pressing a tool to machine body surfaces. This arrangement generates an expanding force along a line extending between the point of support on a base and the point of contact on the working tool. The base and the tool have articulated joints thus allowing for freedom of movement in three planes. The base and the working tool may be connected by either a flexible or a compressed support member. The working tool can be hand held directly or remotely by means of an extendable support and a tool holder. If a power tool is used as a working tool, its operation can be remotely controlled by an on/offswitch. The tool with the attachment may be especially useful for machining ceiling surfaces, since the tool is automatically supported and elastically pressed to the surface, by the attachment and furthermore may be remotely controlled by operator from a convenient location.
