PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent and food that contain an extract of Fuscoporia obliqua, and control and inactivate mutagenicity of injurious substances, such as benzpyrene. SOLUTION: This antimutagenic agent and food, which control and inactivate mutagenicity of injurious substances, such as benzpyrene, 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5 H-pyrido[4,3-p] indole, comprises, as an effective ingredient, an extract of hyphae of Fuscoporia obliqua, which grow on trunks of standing white and other birches, and form black sclerotia (natural produce) or are cultured using a sawdust culture medium (artificially cultured product). The active component extracted from theses hyphae is used an antimutagenic agent in the form of powder or solution. The extract of Fuscoporia obliqua has a carcinostatic action and AIDS virus proliferation control action, and can be taken in orally in the form of a mixture with drinks, seasonings, foods, etc. |
