The invention concerns the correcting of errors in expanding the stereo impression in a sound reproduction system. In the system according to the invention before the expansion of the stereo impression a summation signal is separated from a stereophonic signal, where the summation signal is subtracted from the original stereophonic signals, taken past the filter stage which carries out the expansion of the stereo impression and combined with the filtered difference signals. Before the combination process the summation signal can be delayed or processed in some other way in order to reconcile the delays and the other characteristics of the summation signal and the filtered difference signals. <IMAGE>
