A strong box (1) may be secured to a vehicle or boat using detachable hooks (3,3a,4) in conjunction with internal and external reinforcing plates (2,5,5a) and locking nuts (7). The hooks are of round cross section and the threaded section has a reduced diameter. The hooks have longer or shorter shanks (3,3A) according to situation and whether they are to be fitted from the inside or the outside of the strong box. A further variant (4) suitable for installation in boats has a straight transverse portion at an angle of less than 90 degrees which aids grip on the internal and external reinforcing plates (2,5,5A).
