The arc barrier protector has a swinging arc barrier mounted in sockets (7). A motorised jack (4) acts on the arc barrier to move it up and down. The system is fed by a rechargeable battery. A remote control unit, which operates only at short range so that the motorist can see the barrier, commands the jack. The system does not need any civil engineering work to install it. The barrier stops if an obstruction is sensed.
