The processing system for document handled by a FAX system has FAX information (217) generated and received by a format identification unit (219) coupled to a knowledge base. The formatted information can be entered into memory (224), as can handwritten information (221). A display screen formatting unit (222) also provides input. The memory connects with a character identification unit (206) that also receives incoming data via a FAX interface (203) that is connected to a memory storing the images. Outgoing information is transmitted via a unit with a waiting loop (215). Information is displayed on a screen unit (208). USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides data processing for FAX system without special format.
