A method of measuring UV-radiation from the sun and of alerting an individual about the present UV-radiation, comprises measuring the altitude of the sun and establishing a first measure representing the present sun altitude, and converting said first measure representing the present sun altitude on the basis of a one-to-one conversion function into a second measure representing the erythema-effective radiation of the sun.
