The present invention relates to metal processing and more precisely to the application of photolithographic or holographic micro-relief on a metallic surface for marking an article. In one embodiment of the present invention, this method comprises press-forming a micro-relief on the metal using a foil-type nickel matrix. In another embodiment, this method comprises forming a micro-relief on the metal by ion-beam etching said metal with argon under vacuum conditions and using a mask made of a photoresist.
