<p>A method and apparatus for forming heat-sink devices of the type comprising a planar or block-like base member with a plurality of planar fin members attached thereto. The fin members are formed from a strip of suitable sheet-form material fed to a fin forming means. The fin forming means is controlled in response to the needs of an assembly means which secures the fins in groups on selected portions of a base strip before being parted off to provide heat-sink devices. The synchronisation of the fin forming means with the assembly means reduces manual input to the manufacturing process, negates the need to hold stocks of preformed pins and increases design freedom with respect to dimensions of the heat sinks being formed.</p> |
