<p>The present invention relates to a vinyl ester resin composition with increased fracture toughness. The resin comprises a vinyl ester resin and a core/shell polymer wherein the core/shell polymer is dispersed throughout the vinyl ester resin. The incorporation of the core/shell polymer in the vinyl ester resin increases the fracture toughness of the vinyl ester resin about threefold at levels of 5 pphr. There is also described a process for toughening vinyl ester resins comprising dispersing a core/shell polymer in a vinyl ester resin and subsequently curing said vinyl ester resin. There is also described articles produced from these toughened vinyl ester resins.</p> |
