According to the invention, in order to adjust the porosity of ceramic composites which can be prepared by pyrolysis of organosilicon polymers and mixtures containing at least one non-melting inorganic filler which at most reacts superficially with the polymer during pyrolysis, the porosity is adjusted by the mutually adapted determination of the type and average grain size(s) of the filler, the filler content and the final pyrolysis temperature.
