Key processing method for portable DECT device

The method involves converting a value of a key which is pressed at a DECT device (202-208,302-308,402-408,502-508) in a key value which uses information of the portable device. The information is loaded during initialisation from a private automatic branch exchange or from a cryptographic system (100). Preferably, a master-base station interface card (120) is used to determine one out of several key transfer lists using the loaded information of the device. The transfer list stores key values which are used in several portable devices and values which are processed in the PABX or the cryptographic systems.
