Hand scraper with blade and grip

A springy safety stirrup (8) is movably carried ahead of the scraper blade (6) and can move out of the cutting range over the surface being scraped by the tool. The stirrup consists of a repeatedly bent elongate component or wire or profile whose two legs (9,10) are fixed at their ends (11,12) to the holder or grip (3) and which is guided along the tool by projections or indentations (14) in edge or surface form, provided by recesses (13) designed into the stirrup body (8). The ends of the stirrup legs are arranged in holes or grooves (18) as covered over by a movable part of the grip, assisted by slots in the grip which register with the grooves (18) when the grip is twisted round so as to release the stirrup leg ends. The grip or holder comes in two parts whose interface lies parallel to the sides of the blade (6) and which can be twisted relative to one another round an axis normal to their interface.
