<p>The spectacle hinge consists of a male component with a rod (12) and a transverse pivot (14), a female component (42) with sockets (44) for the pivot ends and radial (46) and transverse (49) slots for the rod, and a spring mechanism (20). The outer surface of the hinge's female component acts as a cam for the spring mechanism. Alternatively, the female component of the hinge has recesses for the two ends of the pivot. It also has an aperture through which the pivot can be inserted and then rotated through 90 degrees to engage with the recesses.</p> |
