A filter for use with industrial gas meters or regulators comprises an annular mounting flange 14 whose external diameter is greater than the diameter D of the pipe 12 in which the filter fits. The internal circumference of the mounting flange is bent over to form a frusto-conical portions 26 whose narrower end has an external diameter close to (or even slightly greater than) D, and a conical mesh filter member 20 is coaxially welded to the narrower end of the frusto-conical portion to form a continuation of its frusto-conical shape. The filter is mounted in the pipe 12 by welding the end of the pipe in a cylindrical aperture in a relatively thick annular flange member 14 so that the end of the pipe extends only part way into the aperture 16 the frusto-conical portion of the mounting flange being accommodated in the part of the aperture beyond the end of the pipe 18. |
