REINFORCING MEMBER AND REINFORCING DEVICE FOR COATED OPTICAL FIBER JUNCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing member with which the integral reinforcement of a plurality of coated fiber junctures by a simple operation is possible without occupying a large space. SOLUTION: This reinforcing member has a heat shrinkable tube 3 which protects the junctures of the coated optical fibers, a tensile strength body 8 which is housed in this heat shrinkable tube and extends nearly along the axis of the heat shrinkable tube while opening the spacing from the inside surface of the heat shrinkable tube and hot meltable adhesives 4a, 4b which are housed in the heat shrinkable tube, pack the spacings between the heat shrinkable tube and the tensile body after melting by heating and integrate the coated optical fibers, the heat shrinkable tube and the tensile strength body. This reinforcing member is discretely provided with a plurality of coated fiber guide parts (hollow parts of 4a and 4b) for penetrating the reinforcing member by guiding the coated optical fibers in the heat shrinkable tube.
