PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of a bridge in opening of a cap by a simple constitution prescribing the posture of a cover means so that the gap between the cover means and an ink emitting orifice forming surface becomes almost constant over the entire area of the cover region. SOLUTION: The restoring operation of the covering of an ink emitting part (ink emitting orifice forming surface) with a cap 24 is performed by driving a pump 25 after cover operation to suck ink from ink emitting orifices. When the cap is opened by revolving the pump 25 and the arm 251 integrated therewith, the projection part 30 formed on a platen 27 comes into contact with the left and right symmetric position of the shaking center of the rear surface of a cap holder 28 when the cap holder 28 falls. By this constitution, the shaking of the cap holder 28 is prescribed and the cap 24 is held so as to open the cap in the state almost parallel to the ink emitting orifice forming surface of a recording head 11. The distance between the cap 24 and the ink emitting orifice forming surface of the recording head 11 at this time is 1.3mm. |
