PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hydrotreat a hydrocarbon oil with high cracking activities without deteriorating the selectivity for a middle fraction (a kerosene or a light oil fraction) by bringing the hydrocarbon oil as a heavy fraction into contact with a specific catalyst in the presence of hydrogen. SOLUTION: (A) A hydrocarbon oil which is a heavy oil, a vacuum distillation kerosene, a cracked light oil or a solvent deasphalted oil is brought into contact with a catalyst supporting groups VI and VIII to X metals of the periodic table on a support comprising 5-60wt.% iron-containing aluminosilicate having a main compositional formula, expressed by an oxide form and represented by the formula aFe2 O3 .Al2 O3 .bSiO2 .nH2 O [(n) is 0-30; 15<(b)<100; 0.005<(a)/(b)<0.15], having <=35% content of an inert iron compound [Fe] dep calculated by a heat-up program reduction and at least one high-temperature part reduction peak temperature [Th ( deg.C)] satisfying the relationship of the formula 700<=Th<=(-300×UD+8320) (UD is the lattice constant Å of the iron- containing aluminosilicate) and 95-40wt.% inorganic oxide in the presence of (B) hydrogen. |
