PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently start up a fluorescent tube without a substantial influence on the life of the fluorescent tube, or with the effective reduction of the aforesaid influence, as for an image forming device. SOLUTION: In the image forming device, the original illuminating device is constituted so as to illuminate the original O in order to form an original image, and the device is provided with the fluorescent tube 12 as a light source, a power supply means 26 for supplying the power to the fluorescent tube 12, a heater 14 for heating the tubular wall of the fluorescent tube 12, a temperature sensor 16 for detecting the tubular wall temperature of the fluorescent tube 12 and a control means 28 for controlling the heater 14 based on the output of the temperature sensor 16 so that the temperature of the tubular wall may reach a prescribed temperature. Thus, when the power source for the image forming device is turned on, the tubular wall temperature is detected by the temperature sensor 16, and the heating target temperature under a heater control by the control means 28 is made differ in accordance with the detected temperature. |
