PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and device which facilitate editing, so that the order of an image division area matches the order of its recognition result. SOLUTION: A document image is divided into division areas (S401, S402). Specific identification numbers are given to the divided areas (S402). Characters included in the division areas are recognized in the order of the given identification numbers (S403, S404). The characters included in a 1st area where a recognized character is present are moved to a 2nd area (S405). Then the division area including the 1st area is divided again into a 1st division area including the 1st area and a 2nd division area which includes the rest. |
