PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the lighting characteristic by product and enlarge the effective lighting area by pressing a light source device toward the side surface of a light guide plate, and automatically engaging it with the light guide plate. SOLUTION: A surface emitting lighting system 10 has a light guide plate 11 formed of a substantially long rectangular transparent or translucent resin, and a light source device 12 having a LED chip 17 arranged on the bottom part of a horizontally long bottomed box-like reflecting case 16 opened in the front. The device 12 is engaged with and held by the side surface of the light guide plate 11a when pushed toward the side surface of the light guide plate 11, and laid along the opposed short edge. Its automatic engaging means 13 is formed of an outward deflectable and deformable hook 14 formed on the light guide plate 11 side and engaging protruding parts 15 formed on both end parts of the device 12. The clearance between the light guide plate 11 and the device 12 which is unnecessary and varied every product is eliminated. Compared with a method of fitting the device 12 to a recessed part formed on the upper surface of the light guide plate 11, the area outward from the recessed part is saved. |
