PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin compsn. which has excellent moldability, good mechanical properties and biodegradability. SOLUTION: This biodegradable resin composition comprises the following components (A) and (B), the following components (A), (B), and (C), the following components (A), (B), and (D), or the following components (A), (B), (C), and (D). (A): 100 pts.wt. polyvinyl alcohol resin having an no. average mol. wt. of 10,000 to 30,000 and a fraction of an no. average mol. wt. of not less than 100,000 of not more than 15%. (B): 10 to 100 pts.wt. polyhydric alcohol. (C): 10 to 300 pts.wt. cellulose particles having a diameter of not more than 50μm. (D): 2 to 10 pts.wt. borax.
