PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject live cell agent containing live lactobacillus cells as an active component, effective for improving the aqueous environment of aquatic life such as aquatic plant and aquatic animal without applying load on the environment and the life, improving the ornamental value of the aquatic life and useful for keeping the health and promoting the growth of the aquatic life. SOLUTION: This agent contains live lactobacillus cells as an active component at a concentration of e.g. about 10<5> to 10<12> cells/L. The live cell agent is added to the growing water of an aquatic life in an amount to get the lactobacillus cell concentration of about 10<5> to 10<8> cells/L in the water to suppress the generation of harmful bacteria, improve the transparency of water and reduce the formation of sludge.
