PRODUCTION OF ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE THERMOPLASTIC RESIN COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a thermoplastic resin having uniform electrical conductivity in high productivity while preventing the scattering of carbon black. SOLUTION: This process for the production of a thermoplastic resin composition containing electrically conductive carbon black in an amount of 5-50wt.% based on 100 pts.wt. of the sum of the electrically conductive carbon black and the thermoplastic resin comprises the supply of the thermoplastic resin to a continuous twin-screw extruder rotating in the same directions to effect the gelatinization of the resin, the forced supply of the electrically conductive carbon black into the barrel of the twin screw extruder through a side feeder, the deaeration of the resin through a vent hole of the twin screw extruder under atmospheric pressure prior to the complete dispersion of the electrically conductive carbon black into the thermoplastic resin and the continuation of the kneading work to extrude a kneaded mixture of the thermoplastic resin and the electrically conductive carbon black through a die of the extruder.
