PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable speed change in upshifting and speed change in downshifting to be bodily sensed, to prevent speed change shock from being generated, and to improve durability. SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission is provided with a continuously variable transmission 12, an actuator for changing the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 12, and a gear shift mode judging means for judging whether the steplessly variable mode is shifted to the step gear shift mode or not. When the stepless variable mode is shifted to the step gear shift mode, a target gear ratio determining means 253 fixes the gear ratio calculated by a reference gear ratio calculating means 251 as the target gear ratio and then determines the target gear ratio corresponding to the command of upshift transmission and the command of downshift transmission from a plurality of gear ratios calculated by a gear ratio line calculating means 252. In the step gear shift mode, the difference between the gear ratio of respective mutually adjacent gear shift stages is made proper. |
