<p>The backing layer consists of a knitted material with stitches (2) interwoven with reinforcing filaments running in the warp direction and between the columns of stitches. The filaments are straight or substantially straight, are devoid of corrugation stresses, and are thermally stabilised. The backing layer can incorporate a layer of a non-woven material and an adhesive or hot-melt glue for attaching it to a layer of fabric or lining, e.g. of cotton or similar material. The reinforcing filaments can be based on synthetic fibres.</p> |
